Wedding fever has hit the little town of Marietta...

Piper Tierney is busy wrapping up the school year and planning the music for Marietta’s Wedding Of The Century. She does not need one of her parents’ backpacking hippies under foot. Except the guy they let stay in their house is so much more than the California couch-surfer he resembles. Before she knows it, she’s making time to make time, even though he’s only in town for a couple of weeks.

Taking a break from working on his doctorate in political science, Sebastian Bloom wants to reassure himself his sister isn’t making another mistake with her upcoming wedding to a Marietta rancher. He’s definitely not looking for a bride for himself. Marriage and family are a trap. But Piper is cute, funny, and wants to move on from her ex.

They agree to a no strings affair, but will they wind up tying the knot?
Piper is the music teacher at the high school and her and Bastian are at the local "Lover's Lane" make out spot when they get interrupted.

Quote:
"I want to get home, but I don’t want to take my hands off you,” he muttered, setting his hand against the side of her neck and kissing her deeply.

It was good, so good, and maybe this time they could come together, she thought, running her hand up his hard thigh to the ridge behind his fly—

“Shit,” he muttered, lifting his head to glare past her out the open window.

“What—” She followed his gaze and turned her head to see a car had pulled in next to them.

Oh no. Flynn Goodwin, senior quarterback, wore a stunned look as he recognized her. “Sorry. I thought you were someone else,” he said through his open window, and turned away to crane his neck and back up.

“Are you kidding me?” Bastian said clearly enough to carry to the other car.

His niece glared right back at them from Flynn’s passenger seat. “Are you kidding me?”

* * *

Bastian was an earthy man. He didn’t apologize for his animal urges and accepted that everyone had them.

Not his niece though. Petra was a baby. Barely seventeen. Definitely not old enough to be parking.

He called,“ Get your ass home right now or I’m telling your mother.”

Review:

Occasionally I like to mix up my reading and go with something a little softer, a little sweeter, a little more mushy. And I that's exactly what this novella gave me.

Piper has lived in small town Marietta most of her life. Due to a birthmark on her face, she has been self-conscious and shy, afraid that all men will be able to see is the mark on her face. This is brought home to her by a scummy ex-boyfriend who, after losing a bunch of weight, pressures her to get it "fixed". When she meets Bastian, and he convinces her that he is attracted to her and doesn't even see her mark, she realizes he would be the perfect man to be her first. After all, he won't be sticking around, and with the celebrity wedding going on, their won't be a lot of talk when he leaves.

Bastian met Piper's parents while in South America doing some research. When they found out that Bastian would be traveling to Marietta for his sister's wedding, they offer to let him stay at their place. Especially since they know their daughter will have her hands full with end of the school year and the celebrity wedding also taking place. He never expected to find someone as sweet, sexy and interesting as Piper.

Bastian has some issues related to his military father, while Piper's are more centered around her birthmark. They both had to overcome their fears to be together. Family played a large part in this book and there were some real characters. I enjoyed the read and am giving it 3 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and Tulle Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

  1. Oh, I like those quotes. Heh, small town life has its disadvantages. :D

Would this work as a stand alone or should I read the earlier books first?

    1. It worked great as a stand alone, I say this because I didn't read the first one, lol. Each book in the series is by a different author. One interesting thing to note, this author has a couple of other books out in different Marietta, Montana series and they all feature related characters.

    1. I know right? That's why I had to go with it. I just loved the idea of the tables being turned on them.
