On the proverbial run from another failed relationship, Morgan finds herself in the one place she always found solace. With every intention of being alone, she’s surprised when she comes across the one person she never expected.

Luke would go to the ends of the earth to figure out why Morgan ran away five years ago and make things right with her. However, a dangerous trek up the mountains to her family’s cabin might not have been the smartest choice. To say she was happy to see him would be a huge lie. Having to rescue him, mortifying for Luke.

Toss a kidnapper into the mix and their feelings for each other are brought into perspective, revealing parts of themselves they never thought would come to light.
Quote:

My favorite quote…. I don’t think I’ve ever been asked that before but let’s see… I’ve done 3. ☺
“Well that’s not my fault, Mr. Walker; I didn’t ask you to come up here and get lost, or get yourself stranded. I’m here for some peace and quiet, meaning just me. Alone. As in, not with you or anyone.”
I think I like this quote because my heroine Morgan is sticking up for herself, not afraid to put a man in his place. She knows what she wants and she’s trying hard not to let him interfere. If only it were that easy.

******

There’s another that’s a pretty simple line but the meaning is huge. I’ll quote the lines before and after too because I think they’re pertinent. She has a serious dislike for the man she’s been called out to do a search and rescue on, however at the time she saved him, she didn’t know who he was.
Starting to doubt her better judgment, if he hadn’t been wearing his face mask and she could have seen his face beforehand, would she still have saved him?

“Yes, dammit, because that’s what I do.” She wasn’t happy with her revelation but she’d taken an oath to serve and protect in any crisis. No human being deserved to die like that even if it was him. She’d rather his demise be by strangulation with her own two hands.

******
“Stop right there!” Luke slyly grabbed the hand wielding the knife before she accidentally snagged him with it. “You know exactly who I am.” He took hold of her other hand, so she wouldn’t wrestle free from his grip with her armed limb. “As a matter of fact, there isn’t anyone out there that knows me better.”
I had to giggle at this part because Luke had turned the tables on Morgan, standing up to her, putting Morgan in her place by speaking the simple plain truth.

    1. Yep. Plus she rescues him. Hehehe. Nothing like turning the tables. :)

  2. I like those quotes and how they each stick up for themselves. The blurb is appealing too. :)

    1. Nothing like a strong heroine to make a story interesting. :)
